The Kitchen That’s Been Waiting Since 2004
If your Sammamish home was built in the 1990s or early 2000s, there’s a good chance the kitchen has been waiting for an update since before your last car. The oak-stain cabinetry. The laminate countertop with the chip near the sink. The eat-in breakfast area that’s never quite worked. The appliances that were replaced piecemeal — a new refrigerator here, a new dishwasher there — so nothing matches anymore. These kitchens function. They just don’t reflect what the home has become or who lives in it now.
ARIID Build & Remodel has remodeled kitchens throughout the Sammamish plateau — Klahanie, Pine Lake, Trossachs, and the newer developments near the city center. Ariana Anderson, our founder, holds two National NKBA Design Awards and has 25 years of experience. She’s been in enough of these kitchens to know exactly what they need and in what order.
What We Change in Sammamish Kitchens
The cabinet replacement is the first and most impactful change. The dated wood-stain finish is the single element that most ages these kitchens, and replacing it with painted custom or semi-custom cabinetry — taken to the ceiling, with soft-close hardware and proper storage configuration — changes the room immediately. We often reconfigure the upper cabinet layout to eliminate the dead space above the refrigerator and the awkward corner cabinet that nothing fits in properly.
Countertops come next. Quartz is the dominant choice in Sammamish for practical reasons — families, kids, heavy use — but we work with quartzite, marble, and Dekton for clients who want something more distinctive. Island configurations often change: we raise the bar seating height, add a second prep sink, build in a drawer microwave to clear the counter, or extend the island footprint if the layout allows it.
Appliances complete the scope. We specify the full package as a unit — range, refrigerator, dishwasher, ventilation — so everything works together visually and technically. We handle any structural work if walls move, and we manage permits through the City of Sammamish’s Development Services. License ARIIDBL767NB.
The Outdoor Cooking Connection
Sammamish plateau homes often have meaningful private outdoor space, and connecting the kitchen to a covered outdoor cooking or dining area is one of the upgrades that changes daily life most dramatically. We design and build these connections as part of kitchen projects — new exterior door openings, covered patio structures, outdoor kitchen setups with a grill, counter, and refrigerator. The result is a kitchen that extends outdoors from May through October and makes the whole back of the house function as one integrated living space.
We’re also straightforward about what a Sammamish kitchen remodel won’t do: it won’t change the floor plan beyond the kitchen area unless you want structural work, and it won’t fix a fundamentally awkward layout by upgrading the finishes. If the kitchen’s location in the house is the problem — if it faces the wrong direction, if it’s cut off from the outdoor space, if it’s too far from the dining room — we’ll tell you that and talk through what a structural solution would cost.
